In the Summer of 2024 we found out that one of our regular friends at our Tuesday meal was losing his house to a reverse mortgage.  He is a veteran, had lost his wife a few years back and had recently had triple bypass surgery so was not released to work.

As we worked alongside our friend at Chestnut Health they were able to get our Tri-County Veterans Association involved and they paid a car payment for this gentleman.  As I worked with our local St. Vincent DePaul we were able to help him with funding for a down payment and first month rent on a 1 bedroom in an apartment complex owned by a gentleman who desires to help those in desperate situations find a home.  

As I shared his story on our FB page I was contacted by a sweet woman who was a veteran and she said she would pay another car payment for our friend.  In the meantime his St. Vincent DePaul rep was able to speak to a local charitable organization and they paid his car off.  

The St. Vincent De Paul took him on as a neighbor in need and worked with him to help him fill out job applications.  He is now employed by a local school district.  He comes every Tuesday and Thursday for lunch and has hope.
